Barcelona – The Boqueria Market


A visitor to Barcelona will most likely go to La Rambla, a main tourist area chock full of shops, restaurants, and this large market. It’s filled with fresh seafood, fruits, vegetables and all the ingredients you’d need for Catalan cuisine. The candy counters have tons of fantastic “penny candies” plus more extravagant truffles and fanciful shapes. There are stalls filled with jamon Ibirico, the ham native to this part of Spain, and counters with fresh meat – even sheep’s heads. It’s colorful, noisy, and the kind of shopping experience we don’t get much in the U.S.
